Battle for Breath 2025

The Battle For Breath is an annual charity event run by the KW Wargaming Guild in June. It’s a two-day event. It consists of tournaments for our most popular games. There is also a raffle draw. All proceeds from the raffle are donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada

Registration

The Battle for Breath is free to attend. Come visit our vendors, buy some raffle tickets, and enjoy a drink. Individual tournaments have a fee to participate, details can be found below.

Raffle

Raffle tickets can be purchased leading up to and throughout the weekend in our vendor via our online store. Raffle tickets cost; $1 per ticket.

The raffle draw will take place on Sunday, June 8th at approximately 4pm.

We’re doing a completely digital raffle this year! You can you buy ticket directly from https://buymeacoffee.com/kwwargamingguild/extras on the draws you want to enter. We have all the data setup to pull from that store to run a https://wheelofnames.com/

This makes it easy, you can buy tickets at anytime leading up to or during the event! Additionally you don’t have write your name down on each ticket this year.

You can purchase tickets even if you cannot attend Battle for Breath, we will contact the winners via email and arrange to get the prize sent to you!
(either mailed or we can organize a pickup/drop-off)

Prizes

We have budgeted a minimum number of prizes per game system. We will purchase these using a portion of the event registration fees.

The event organizers are busy reaching out to local and international vendors. They are asking for prize donations to help us raise more funds for charity. Vendor donations will enable more of your event registration fees to go towards charity instead of purchasing prizes.

Our goal is to have a robust offering for attendees. We want you to be excited about it, so you’ll want to open your wallet. Help us set a new record! Last year, we were able to raise $5,000 for charity.

Here’s a round up of the prizes we’ve been able to procure for the raffle this year! There are still more coming in so this list evolves as we approach the event.

This year we’re running the raffle digitally. All items are listed in our shop and you can buy tickets at your convenience. If anyone is having trouble with the site, find an organizer and we can help you. If that still doesn’t work we can accept cash and manually add your entries.

Accommodations

We are proud to announce that we have arranged accommodations for attendees at the Battle for Breath. The rate will be $65.00 per person per night to stay in Waterloo College Hall (88 Seagram Drive). This is right across the street from the KW Granite Club where Battle for Breath is hosted. This rate includes parking. Each room has a single bed, sink, desk and closet unit. The washroom is shared with one other person and contains a toilet and shower. There are shared lounges on each floor.

Each individual will need to register for an account and then proceed to make a reservation. It is possible for an individual to list the name of another person they would like to share the washroom with.

The Trading Outpost

Got a pile-of-shame? Turn it into cash.

New this year at The Battle for Breath, the Trading Outpost gives attendees a hands-off way to sell miniatures, terrain, and hobby gear all weekend long.

How It Works

Reserve your table space online — $10 per slot (includes 2 raffle tickets).
Label your items clearly with your name and price.
Drop off your items at the event — our volunteers will handle sales for you.
Pick up your cash and unsold items at the end of the weekend.

Table Layout

Each 8’ x 2.5’ table is divided into 8 individual slots (approx. 2’ x 1.25’ each). You can reserve more than one.

Important Info

Tape and basic supplies will be provided onsite, but we recommend prepping your bundles at home.

Limited to 32 slots to start — more may be added if demand is high and we secure more volunteers.

Vendor Hall

We’re excited to announce support from this years vendors

Table Bound will be returning this year with products available for purchase throughout the weekend.

We’re excited to have Wow Mobile Boutique come out and join us in our vendor hall this year! Need an upgrade? Talk to them!

We’re also excited to have Mecha Games joining us for the weekend.

Food

Please note that we will not be organizing a group pizza order at this year’s Battle for Breath due to the increased size of the event. However, parking is readily available at both the KW Granite Club and University Plaza, which is just a short walk away.

Attendees are welcome to bring their own food or step out to grab a meal nearby. The bar at the Granite Club will be open for beverages, and we’ll also have a small bake sale on site for snacks.

Events

This year, all events will be occurring on the concrete rink surface at the KW Granite Club. Each player will have a chair and more space surrounding their table compared to years past. By using the rink it gives us the entire hall and the viewing deck for seating. Players can use those spaces to relax and have a drink between rounds.

Blood Bowl

Host: Scotty Milne
Duration: Two Day Event
Registration Fee: $50 (includes 2x Raffle Tickets)
Player Cap: 36 Players

This years event is a GLAM (Great Lakes Amorical) Tournament Series Premier Event. This means means that we have extra points for those that attend the event and play in this event.

Players will purchase their ticket via the online shop. Full details for the event will be posted on NAF and linked here soon.

Marvel Crisis Protocol

Host: Trevor Bergmanis
Duration: Two Day Event (4 Games Saturday, 3 Games Sunday)
Registration Fee: $35 (includes 2x Raffle Tickets)
Player Cap: 64 Players

Players will purchase their ticket via the online shop and include their Longshanks ID in the notes. Within a few days after you have purchased you will be added to the Longshanks Event. We have done this so only players who have paid will be able to register in Longshanks. https://mcp.longshanks.org/event/23004/

We have a good amount of MCP terrain. However, with the expansion to 64 players this year, we could use some more. Please send Trevor a message via Longshanks if you’re willing to bring a table worth of painted terrain and game mat.

Star Wars Shatterpoint

Host: Sean Peconi
Duration: Two Day Event (3 Games Saturday, 2 Game Sunday, No Cut)
Registration Fee: $35 (includes 2x Raffle Tickets)
Player Cap: 32 Players

Players will purchase their ticket via the online shop and include their Longshanks ID in the notes. Within a few days after you have purchased you will be added to the Longshanks Event. We have done this so only players who have paid will be able to register in Longshanks https://www.longshanks.org/event/24764/

We have a good amount of Shatterpoint terrain but we can use more! Please send Sean a message to Sean Peconi via the Shatterpoint Ontario Facebook group if you’re willing to bring a table worth of painted terrain and game mat.

Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game

Host: Derek Satnik from the OSBGL
Duration: Two Day Event
Registration Fee: Will be Announced on March 15th (includes 2x Raffle Tickets)
Player Cap: 64 Players

The OSBGL has partnered with the KW Wargaming Guild and will be hosting a team event. Derek will be releasing more details as we get closer to the event. Payments and event registration will be processed separately from the other events. Check this page again on March 15th!

Infinity

Host: Rob Heroux
Duration: One Day Event
Registration Fee: $20 (includes 2x Raffle Tickets)
Player Cap: 16 Players

Players will purchase their ticket via the online shop and then register on the ITS event page. Full event rules/missions can be found on the ITS event page.
The event page does not restrict you from registering prior to paying. Players that have paid will secure their spot, any event registrations without payment may lose their spot.

Kitchener Waterloo Wargaming Guild
